14 DAY TRIAL // MSI, one of the world's leading vendors of hardware components, including motherboards and graphics cards, has just announced the official debut of its latest GeForce models, the new N220GT and N210 series. Designed for the mainstream market, the new cards have been featured with NVIDIA's latest 40nm DirectX 10.1-capable GPUs, offering a noteworthy level of performance in a compact and energy-efficient form factor.
The Taiwanese company has released no less than six new GeForce GT 220 and GeForce 210 series of cards, providing a wider choice for mainstream customers. Part of the company's line of GT200-based graphics processing units, the new models are available with either 512MB or 1GB of graphics memory, while MSI has also provided users with a choice for a reference design or a factory-overclocked solution that comes with a custom cooling option.
As far as technical specifications go, the GT 220-based cards come with a reference clock speed of 625MHz, while the 128-bit memory is clocked at 1580MHz. As for the lower-end GeForce 210, users will be able to take advantage of a core speed of 589MHz and a memory clock speed of 1580MHz, when configured with GDDR3 memory. Both solutions have been designed on a PCI-Express x16 2.0 interface and feature several connectivity options, depending on model.
The two cards have been designed on NVIDIA's latest 40nm-based graphics processing units and have been featured with support for all of the chip maker's technologies, including CUDA. In addition, these are the first models from NVIDIA's line of desktop GPUs to support Microsoft's DirectX 10.1 API, a feature that has been available on AMD's Radeon cards for a while now.
According to MSI, the two cards boast the company's military class concept design, meaning that they are built using high-end materials, such as solid stake choke or solid capacitors. The GeForce GT 220 comes with a single-slot fansink cooling solution, while the GT 210 offers a cooler, quieter passive cooling option.
