14 DAY TRIAL // It appears that time has come for MSI to update its portfolio of portable computer systems with the official introduction of the new VX600 laptop, part of the company's Value Series. Featured with a 15.4-inch LCD monitor, the new laptop comes to provide entry-level users with a performance-capable system that is ideal for home, office or educational use. The new VX600 comes with some of MSI's exclusive technologies, including the power saving management function dubbed ECO Engine.
MSI's new 15.4-inch VX600 laptop combines Intel's Penryn Core 2 Duo processors with ATI's Mobility Radeon HD3410 mobile GPU, featuring 512MB of DDR2 VRAM, for a level of performance that is required from a mainstream portable PC. The system is based on a SiS 672DX and 968 chipset combo, which enables support for up to 4GB of DDR2 memory and a high-capacity 320GB hard disk drive.
Additional features include built-in Super-Multi optical drive, 4-in-1 (SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro) card reader, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n connectivity with optional Bluetooth. Users will also be able to take advantage of two built-in speakers, integrated microphone and a 1.3MP webcamera, while the entire laptop can be powered by either a 6-cell or a 9-cell battery.
One other feature that is available with MSI's new VX600 Value notebook is the presence of the ECO Quick Launch Touch Sensor, which enables users to switch among 5 different power modes, namely gaming mode, movie mode, presentation mode, office mode and Turbo battery mode, each one offering support for a different type of application, ranging from gaming, multimedia, office or just lowering the battery consumption.
Boasting a swift and practical design, according to MSI, the new VX600 is aimed at providing performance for the mainstream market. Basically, the VX600 comes as a straightforward laptop, although the company is yet to provide details on pricing and availability.
