14 DAY TRIAL // The March 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar comes with lots of surprises for Kim Kardashian or Elizabeth Taylor fans. It includes a Cleopatra-inspired photospread, an interview with the Dame (by KK) and a separate piece with only Kim.
While few other magazines would think to put screen icon Dame Elizabeth Taylor in the same room with reality star Kim Kardashian, as some voices online are pointing out, the interview came out just great.
In her questions, Kim managed to get Taylor to speak of the issues closest to her heart, like her family, her charities and her jewelry collection, which is now the stuff of legend.
She also says she would have loved the opportunity to star in a film with either Johnny Depp or Colin Farrell because they are “both brilliant, nuanced actors with great range.”
Elizabeth also offers Kim some advice on how to stay true to oneself and how fame is nothing but an illusion – but which must be used nevertheless for the good of others by getting involved with charity organizations.
“I have never felt more alive than when I watched my children delight in something, never more alive than when I have watched a great artist perform, and never richer than when I have scored a big check to fight AIDS. Follow your passion, follow your heart, and the things you need will come,” the screen icon says.
She also talks about how important her fans are for her: she’s now on Twitter, which allows her to stay in touch with the people who have made it possible for her to lead such an enchanted life.
In the other interview, with Kim, the reality star speaks of her music endeavor, how she’s been working hard for her money since she was 18, and how she never “made a business” of that infamous tape that practically propelled her among stars.
“I can carry a tune, yeah. I have a cute little voice. I talked to people in the business, and they said, ‘This is what we do for fun. You go to the movies, you go shopping, why don’t you try what we do?’” Kim says of recording a pop track.
