Shortly after Samsung went official with the upcoming availability of its Galaxy Note II smartphone in the United States, wireless carrier U.S. Cellular announced the pre-order availability of the new device on its network.

The handset will arrive later this year with support for the operator’s 4G LTE service, and will sport a price tag of $299.99 after $100 mail-in rebate with the signing of a new two-year contract with the carrier.

The company also confirmed that it would add the 16GB Titanium Gray flavor of Galaxy Note II to its offering in late October, but did not provide specific info on the launch date.

Featuring a 5.5 inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen display, Galaxy Note II is the largest smartphone in the world at the moment.

It is also one of the most powerful handsets, courtesy of Samsung’s Exynos 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and all the enhancements that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean comes with.

The specs list of this phone also includes 8-megapixel rear-facing and a 1.9 megapixel front-facing cameras, HD video recording capabilities, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 64GB of external storage.

“The Samsung Galaxy Note II on the fast 4G LTE network provides our customers with a unique experience that can make work and play easier wherever you are,” said Edward Perez, vice president of sales and marketing operations for U.S. Cellular.

“We are once again excited to work with Samsung to bring this caliber of device to our customers to help them stay connected to the people and information important to them.”

At the moment, U.S. Cellular offers 4G LTE services in select cities in collaboration with King Street Wireless. The service is available in Iowa, Maine, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin.

The carrier also announced that it plans on expanding the coverage to more cities before the end of the year, so as to cover select cities in Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oregon, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.

“By the end of 2012, 58 percent of U.S. Cellular customers will enjoy faster 4G LTE speeds,” the wireless carrier concluded. More info on the company’s service can be found on its website.
