John Schappert, the chief operations officer of Electronic Arts, has stated in a recent interview that the PlayStation 3 is performing very well and that it will continue to do so, motivating his company's partnership with Sony unveiled at this year's E3. Schappert has added that his firm was “platform agnostic,” but the place to be at that time was the PlayStation 3.

Speaking to IGN, the EA exec revealed, “I wouldn’t read too much into what we’re showing the demo’s on, but I will tell you, in the marketplace, the PlayStation 3 is doing incredibly well. Since Sony changed the PS3 form factor, rolled out the Kevin Butler marketing campaign and launched some great content, the box is on fire. […] We have high hopes on the PlayStation 3 this year. Again, we like them all, but PlayStation 3 is doing very strong right now.”

EA had a strong presence at Sony's E3 press briefing at the recent edition of the Electronic Entertainment Expo. It announced two special editions that would be found only on the PlayStation 3, one for Dead Space 2 and one for Medal of Honor. Dead Space 2 for PlayStation 3 will come bundled with Dead Space: Extraction and an HD port of the Wii version that will also feature PlayStation Move support.

Medal of Honor will arrive on the PlayStation 3 with an HD remake of Medal of Honor: Frontline, one of the best first person shooters available for the PlayStation 2. One of the titles that will support Sony's motion controller, the PlayStation Move, at its launch is Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11. While the game has already been launched in the US, EA Sports is promising to patch in Move control until September 19, the retail release date of the device.
