It would have been unfathomable to have the biggest and most awesome geek convention in the world and not have anything on the upcoming “Iron Man 3.” Robert Downey Jr. himself was on hand at Comic-Con 2012 in San Diego to screen fresh footage from the film.

The third installment in the hugely popular franchise drops next year but it might also be Downey's last: he said on the panel that he didn't know what he'd do next, because his contract expired after this film was completed.

He also presented the first footage from the film, as only he could have done.

“I’ve got three questions. Question one, how much do I love you? Question two, how much do you love me? Question three, why aren’t we watching any footage yet?” he asked.

The Mail writes that the video included plenty of action scenes, a good look at the new additions to the cast (Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall and Sir Ben Kingsley) but also to the stars we've come to love.

Some scenes showed Hollywood in ruins and Stark's house blown to pieces – so just know you're to expect complete mayhem when “Iron Man 3” is out in theaters in May next year.
