“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is a topic that is generating increasingly more interest with each passing day. A movie is currently in the making, attempting a return to the story from before the TV series without creator Joss Whedon, as speculation is building up as to who will play the lead character. At the same time, it seems that an animated series is also in the pipeline, with Whedon on board and with most characters from the TV series part of the story, as TVOverMind says.

Scott Fogg of the aforementioned publication shares he went to film school with an up-and-coming filmmaker who was just asked to be part of the production crew working on the new animated series. This, it seems, would serve as compliment to the initial comics, although more details on that have not yet been made available. However, what this means is that all the characters that fans got to know and love – and that will be excluded from the planned remake – will make a splashing return, much to their delight.

“Details are still a little vague, but the show will (at least start off as) an adaptation of the Buffy comic books. He described the series as ‘motion comics.’ Will they be taking the original artwork and frames, just adding motion and sound effects, like the Watchmen motion comic or will they produce a more traditional animated show, using the comic books as storyboards, is not yet certain. And what comics, exactly, is also uncertain. Is it some of the original comics that were released during the show’s run? Or is it from Buffy’s ‘Season 8?’ What is certain is that because they’re using the comic books as their starting point, all our favorite characters will be returning and this animated series will compliment the original series.” TVOverMind adds.

Another thing that will certainly please fans, aside from the possibility that some of the actors who appeared in the TV series will agree to lend their voices for the animated series as well, is that Joss Whedon will also be involved. Although the inside source claims the creator of the original TV series is not in this “on an ‘in-the-studio’ kind of way,” and definitely not in a way diehard fans would like, any kind of collaboration is better than no collaboration at all.

In other Buffy-related news, fans must know that, over the past weekend, rumor emerged that one strong potential candidate for the part on the remake was “Transformers” star Megan Fox, one of the hottest commodities in Hollywood at the moment. Producers denied talks were underway with Fox, but, some say, not in a manner convincing enough to eliminate the possibility altogether.
