Storm 2 video available

The BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 has finally made an official appearance on the BlackBerry website. The second touchscreen device from the Canadian phone maker Research In Motion is now almost certainly heading for the market within the following few weeks, although no specific release date has been unveiled so far, nor any details on the price tag it should feature.

The touch-enabled sequel has made the headlines almost each and every day during the past few weeks, a clear sign that its launch date is near. The fact that it has already appeared on BlackBerry.com should eliminate any doubt some people might have had regarding its near release. There are a wide range of details on Storm 2 available on its official website, and, although you might already know most of them, we'll still get through a part of the spec list, just to make sure nothing important is left out. For starters, we should mention the 3.25-inch display that boasts a 480 x 360 pixel resolution and support for 65,000 colors, as well as the 3.2 MP camera with flash, auto-focus and Image stabilization.

Other specs of the device include Bluetooth v2.1+EDR1, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g connectivity (with 802.11i including EAP-TLS, PEAP, EAP-TTLS/MS-CHAPv2, PEAPv0/MS-CHAPv2,PEAPv1/EAP-GTC), a SurePress touch screen, on-screen QWERTY keyboard, 3.5mm stereo headset, speakerphone, Media Player with support for MPEG4 H.263, MPEG4 Part 2 Simple Profile, H.264, WMV video files and MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, WMA ProPlus audio files, 256 MB of Flash Memory and memory card slot for additional storage space.

Quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity options are also present with the Storm 2 9550, as well as 2100 MHz UMTS/HSPA and dual-band 800/1900 MHz CDMA/Ev-DO Rev A. The phone also comes with GPS receiver with assisted-GPS capabilities, as well as with a 1400 mAhr battery that can deliver up to 5 hours of talk time or up to 12.7 days of standby time.
