The listing might actually show a cancelled C-series smartphone

One of the smartphones that BlackBerry is set to bring to the market before the end of this year is currently called BlackBerry Jakarta, and has been already confirmed to be an entry-level device designed in collaboration with Foxconn.

In fact, BlackBerry has already announced that the device will become official sooner rather than later, and that it will be aimed mainly at emerging markets, such as Indonesia.

The handset will make a debut in this country first, most probably before the end of this quarter, and should have an affordable price tag attached to it, though the hardware that will be included inside it has yet to be unveiled.

However, it appears that we can now learn more on what the new device might have to provide its users with, courtesy of a listing on the Geekbench benchmark site, which has been discovered by the guys over at bbnews.pl.

According to a berryreview reader, however, the listing would actually show the cancelled C-series handset from BlackBerry, and not the upcoming cheap phone.

The mobile phone has been spotted in the aforementioned benchmark database with BlackBerry OS 10.2.1.569 loaded on top, and with a 1.19GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8230 processor inside, paired with Adreno 305 GPU.

At the same time, the listing shows 1.5GB of RAM inside the phone, which does not fall in line with the expectations one might have for an entry-level smartphone.

For the time being, we’ll take the info above with a grain of salt, as there is a strong possibility that the phone spotted in this benchmark would actually not be BlackBerry Jakarta.

As mentioned above, the phone could become official before the end of the next month, which means that specifics on it should arrive soon, so keep an eye on this space to learn more info on the matter.
