Combining real music production tools and allowing amateurs (and pros) to connect their own MIDI accessories, BeatMaker 2 now features sample drag'n'drop on drum machine via "Quick Load" feature, event recording anywhere in the app, the ability to drag patterns directly on the song editor, and sample streaming in drum and keyboard samplers.
Developer Intua felt it was necessary to outline that samples are not loaded in RAM. Moving on.
The app gains automatic audition of samples in browser and a new auto-loop mode for pads (quantized). The iPod Library import has been “revamped” (Intua doesn’t say how exactly), and the sustain pedal is now supported in the keyboard sampler.
The pedal is also editable in the pattern editor, for those who really want to fine tune their work.
The keyboard sampler now supports layers, and the sampler mapping editor is also enhanced. Users will now receive MIDI clock messages for tempo synchronization and the settings now show OMNI and input clock.
Other new additions include Retina graphics for the 3rd-generation iPad (it was about time), and a bunch of new automatizable parameters: “Auto-pan sync and sync toggle / Effects bypass / LFO sync rate / Invert ADSR / Tune, Fine-Tune / Filter key / Pads reverse and mute / Mixer track mute and solo / Sustain pedal.”
