A 24-year-old British woman, the fattest mother of triplets ever, has come again to the attention of the media for admitting that she feeds her kids junk food – and has been doing so ever since they were as young as six-month-old. Yet, Leanne Salt sees no problem in doing so, and insists her babies are healthy, albeit saying she has neither the time, nor the ability to cook proper meals for them, as the Daily Mail informs.

Leanne Salt lives with her mother, on state benefits. She gave birth to the triplets last August, in what was one of the most challenging procedures of the kind, requiring a 68-member team, since she weighed over 240 kilograms, according to the British media. She is still heavily overweight now (at 190 kilograms), but clearly sees no problem in feeding her children precisely the food she loves so much, including McDonalds and other types of junk food.

“They were six months old when they had their first McDonald’s. They had chicken nuggets and chips and loved it. They like fish and chips too, but I take the batter off the fish, so I guess that’s healthy.” Salt says of the unlikely meals she feeds her infants. Still, despite raised concerns regarding the health of the children, she insists they are in good shape, excusing herself by saying she is hardly in a position to cook regular meals for them, or do much work around the house for that matter. Salt also says that her condition is due to a thyroid problem, and refuses to admit she’s so heavily overweight because of her eating habits.

“Babies are always hungry. Sometimes it’s easier to give them food that’s already prepared. Anyway, they don’t always have junk food – sometimes I cook a microwave meal for them. My babies are healthy. I’m happy to give them fish and chips or chicken nuggets and chips as a treat once or twice a week.” Salt says for the same publication. “I feed my babies vegetables every Sunday, and a lot of the baby food I give them has fruit in it. The health visitor told me off for giving them Smash because it has too much salt in, but it’s difficult to know what to feed them sometimes.” the 24-year-old woman adds.

As the Mail points out, Salt receives £227 a week in state benefits, all of which goes to feeding her 10-cigarette a day habit and on food. In saying she is not financially able to buy “healthy food,” she is not alone: a recent story of a British obese family who used the same excuse also caused serious waves in the media a short while ago.
