Naomi Kutin can squat twice her body weight, plays with the big dogs now

A 10-year-old girl from Fairlawn, New Jersey, has just set a new world record by weightlifting twice her body weight. Her name is Naomi Kutin and, as her parents put it, she's running with the big dogs now.

Naomi weighs just 97 pounds (43.9 kg), but she can squat an impressive 215 pounds (97.52 kg). Clearly, she's not your average 10-year-old girl.

At the recent RAW Unity weightlifting invitational in Corpus Christie, Texas, Naomi broke her own record again, proving that, indeed, size or age has nothing to do with it, as ParentDish reports.

What's even more amazing is that she was in the same competition as professional, experienced bodybuilders and yet she was the one everyone was looking at.

Her father Ed tells ParentDish Naomi didn't lose her cool once during the competition.

“Naomi was surrounded by burly men who would be deemed heavy weights, but she wasn't fazed. The RAW Unity meeting brings together everyone from all the different power lifting federations. So she was competing against the world's best,” Ed says.

“And there was Naomi, an average, ten-year-old stood among these towering and bulky guys waiting her turn. It was quite a sight,” he adds.

We beg to differ: there's nothing “average” about this girl, or else she wouldn't have been able to set a new world record.

“But the moment she did her first squat lift in front of a packed room of onlookers people were transfixed,” her dad further says.

Her mother, Neshama, is already thinking of her future, telling the same publication that they as parents will not push Naomi down this road should she choose to stop training as a weightlifter.

Whether the little girl continues in this field or attempts to break a new record is entirely up to her, says her mom.

“It really is her option if she carries on. She likes lots of sports – karate, hockey, basketball, mixed martial arts. You name it she excels at it, but we won't force her to continue doing anything she doesn't want,” Neshama says.

“She has never and will never use any drugs to enhance her performance, she imply has a natural talent. Other children may be brilliant singers or dancers, but Naomi just happens to be an excellent power lifter,” Naomi's mom adds.
