On the same day as Meizu, ZTE also hosted a media event during which it unveiled not one but three handsets. All of them launch under the V3 umbrella and pack metal bodies and fingerprint sensors.

All the V3 variants offer similar specs but differentiate themselves based on the level of network support. The three new ZTE phones are called V3 Youth, V3 Energy, and V3 Extreme, and they all flaunt a 5.5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution.

Under the hood, the Chinese company is using the services of a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 processor fitted with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card).

Keeping things flowing on board is a 3,000 mAh battery which should ensure you get plenty of action before having to charge your handset. The juice box used is not of the removable type.

ZTE's new budget phones come with Android 5.1 Lollipop

Moving along, all phone models take advantage of a 13MP f/2.2 rear snapper and 5MP front-facing camera with the same aperture. In the software department, the V3 family runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with the company’s own Nubia 3.0 UI plastered on top.

The ZTE V3 weighs 160 g and offers dual-SIM support, hybrid SIM support, and a microSD card slot.

The V3 Youth adds 4G LTE support and will be sold in Silver, while the V3 Energy and V3 Extreme models will go on sale in Gold.

The company will be selling the V3 Youth for $160 / €145, while the V3 Energy can be yours for $210 / €191. The V3 Extreme edition comes packed with a bunch of accessories and will cost you $240 / €218.

As we’ve been telling you above, Meizu also introduced a new phone yesterday, which made a debut as the M2. The phone will sell for a cheaper price tag ($96 / €85) but offers lower specs.

The phone features a 5-inch LCD display with 720p resolution and 294 ppi. The powerhouse of the device is a MediaTek MT6743 processor fitted with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

Still, the phone ships out with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box (with Flume 4.5 skin on top). So which one would you choose?
