Chinese company ZTE continues to launch cheap Android smartphones in the United States, and the latest device announced by the handset maker will go on sale no later than tomorrow at T-Mobile.

The magenta carrier confirmed that ZTE Obsidian would be available both online and in stores beginning August 13 for only $99.99 outright.

The smartphone is already listed on the carrier's website, but it can't be purchased yet. It's also worth mentioning that customers also have the option of grabbing the ZTE Obsidian for $0 down and $4.17 monthly payments for 24 months.

ZTE Obsidian is an affordable smartphone, so those looking for a cheap Android handset may want to take this option into consideration.

Lollipop and 4G LTE are among its strong points

The good news is ZTE Obsidian is not only a cheap smartphone but it also comes with one of the newest versions of Android.

According to T-Mobile, the Obsidian ships with the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.

Apart from that, there aren't any specs that would differentiate the ZTE Obsidian from other entry-level smartphones in the same price range.

For example, the Obsidian is equipped with a 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6753M processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

On the back, ZTE's affordable smartphone packs a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while up in front there's a secondary 2-megapixel photo snapper for selfies and video calls.

Also, the ZTE Obsidian is powered by a 1,800 mAh battery and sports a 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 854 x 480 pixel resolution.

When it comes to connectivity options, potential customers will be pleased to know the smartphone offers 4G LTE support, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS.
