On February 3, the Zorin OS team was excited to announce the release and immediate availability for download of the Zorin OS 11 operating system, which is currently being distributed as Core and Ultimate editions.

Zorin OS 11 is the next generation in the development of the Ubuntu-based operating system, bringing Windows refugees a modern desktop environment that features familiar elements, such as a Vista-like Start Menu and Taskbar, as well as file explorer and applications. Zorin OS 11 is based on Canonical's Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) operating system.

"With Zorin OS 11, we’ve focused on improving the overall desktop user experience, from the smallest details to the bigger picture," developers explained. "In addition to shipping new and improved versions of our standard pre-installed applications, we’ve included new applications to help you get more done in Zorin OS faster, better and more enjoyable."

What's new in Zorin OS 11

Prominent new features of Zorin OS 11 include Linux kernel 4.2, Zorin Web Browser Manager tool for easy installation of different web browsers, and the highly customizable Zorin Menu and Zorin Desktop environment. Also worth mentioning are a grey variant of the Zorin OS theme, revamped scrolling behavior, a built-in Contacts manager utility, a Clocks app for setting alarms or using stopwatch and timer, and a beautiful new video player app.

Below we've prepared a modest screenshot gallery for those of you who want to see what they get before attempting to download or install the OS.
