Artyom Zorin, the creator and lead developer of the Zorin OS Linux distribution, had the great pleasure of announcing a few hours ago that the first RC (Release Candidate) version of the upcoming Zorin OS 10 operating system was ready for download and testing.

Zorin OS 10 RC is here to introduce a complete redesign to the entire desktop environment of the distribution, which includes new themes, a new default font, as well as a brand-new icon theme. Also, the Zorin Theme Changer tool was updated to include new theme colors (see the attached screenshots for details).

"Zorin OS 10 is our best, most beautiful release yet," says Artyom Zorin. "We have made major strides with the visual styling in Zorin OS. In addition to the refined & perfected desktop theme and the new default FreeSans desktop font, we have introduced a stunning new icon theme, its first major overhaul since Zorin OS 2.0."

Based on Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet)

Best of all, Zorin OS 10 will be based on the current stable release of the world's most popular free operating system, Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet), and powered by Ubuntu's Linux 3.19 kernel, which offers support for new hardware components, performance boosts, and stronger security.

Last but not least, Zorin OS 10 will come with a whole new set of default applications, which include the Geary email client, Activity Journal, Calendar app, as well as a streamlined new Media Player. Additionally, the Zorin Menu, Zorin Look Changer, and Zorin Web Browser Manager in-house built utilities will also be present.

Those of you who want to take Zorin OS 10 for a test drive can download the Release Candidate version right now from Softpedia, just keep in mind the fact that it is a pre-release operating system and it's not suitable for deployment in production environments.
