Zen Mobile has just announced its new budget-friendly smartphone that comes with more than decent specs for its price. The new Ultrafone Sonic 1 will soon be available for purchase in India for just Rs 5,999 outright, which translates to $95 or €85.

If we are to compare Zen Ultrafone Sonic 1 with the recently announced Samsung Galaxy V Plus which sells for $82, everyone will agree that Samsung has a real issue penetrating the low-end tier in emerging markets.

Although the South Korean company is trying for years to compete on the low-tier market in India, its pricing policy is still not on par with that of some of the most popular native OEMs.

Take the Zen Ultrafone Sonic 1 that has just been announced. The smartphone ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, whereas Samsung's Galaxy V Plus is powered by KitKat.

Great specs for the price you pay

Also, the Ultrafone Sonic 1 is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory. This is insane considering the smartphone has been priced at less than $100.

In comparison, Galaxy V Plus packs a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal memory. The good news is both smartphones come with microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Furthermore, Zen Ultrafone Sonic 1 sports a large 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

It also packs a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, autofocus and video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front for video calls.

The smartphone offers dual-SIM support, along with other connectivity options, including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS support.

According to a new report, Zen Ultrafone Sonic 1 is available in Black color option exclusively via eBay India.
