YouTube TV brings together content from numerous networks

YouTube has finally made the move towards TV by introducing YouTube TV, a subscription service that brings you the content you want.

"We love TV. We love the shows, live sports, and can’t-miss events that drive our FOMO and need for #spoileralerts. But while what we watch on TV seems to get better every year, the way we watch TV never seems to change. How long do we have to wait until we can watch live TV on the go, on all our devices? When will we have DVRs big enough to handle all the things we want to record? And when will we be able to get the channels we care about, at a price we can afford, without all the commitments, equipment fees, and hassle?" YouTube wonders before answering "today."

If you were hoping to get your hands on YouTube TV already, well, you'll just have to wait. The service is momentarily available only for people living in the major metro areas of the United States - New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Chicago, and Philadelphia. More US markets are going to join the list soon, although no timeline is provided for now.

Cheap and comes with a (limited) bonus

Memberships will cost you $35 per month, which YouTube says is half the average cost of cable. The best part is that you can cancel anytime, which isn't something you can do with traditional cable.

The company is even offering people some bonuses. For as long as supplies last, people will get a complimentary Google Chromecast after their first month's payment. Those will be great for those who have yet to make the move towards a smart TV and who would still like to cast all the content on their devices to the big screens from time to time.

YouTube TV will give people access to live TV streaming from ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN, Fox Sports Networks, Comcast SportsNet and dozens more. Some local broadcast TV stations covering local sports and news are also available, but those depend on where you live. For an additional charge, people can add Showtime or Fox Soccer Plus to the over 50 networks available via YouTube TV.

Unlimited DVR storage

Perhaps the coolest part about YouTube TV and the fact that it is part of Google is that users get limitless DVR cloud storage space. Customers will be able to record as many shows as they want, simultaneously, without running out of storage. The recordings will be available for nine months.

YouTube TV works on your phone, your tablet, or your computer, and it's extremely easy to stream all content to the TV via Chromecast or Chromecast built-in TV.

Subscribers will also get to watch all the YouTube Red Original series, as well as the movies available via the app.

According to the company, your YouTube TV membership can be shared with family and roommates, with six accounts being included. Your household can watch up to three streams at a time, YouTube says.

This is just the first step towards taking over the TV area too. With more and more people preferring to consume TV-type content on their smartphones, tablets, and computers, it's only natural for YouTube to become involved.
