Live streaming isn’t exactly a new feature on YouTube apps, but today the company has announced that mobile live streaming will be expanded to more users. YouTube has supported live streaming since 2011 and launched the world’s first 360-degree live streaming support with full 4K video in 2016.

Now, mobile live streaming will be rolling out to YouTube creators with more than 10,000 subscribers. Those that don’t meet this requirement will receive the feature soon, but YouTube didn’t say exactly when.

“It’s a launch that’ll put the power of live streaming in the hands of hundreds of thousands of talented creators, giving them a more intimate and spontaneous way to share their thoughts, lives, and creativity,” YouTube says.

Monetizing Super Chat features were also made available

In order to start a live streaming session, creators simply need to launch the mobile YouTube app, tap the capture button and then the session starts automatically. Live streaming sessions can be searched for or found through recommendations and playlists.

They’re also protected from unauthorized use and YouTube promises that sessions are fast and reliable. In addition, the speed with which comments are displayed during the live stream has also been slowed down, so that creators can get a chance to actually read them and get feedback from viewers.

YouTube also introduced a feature that helps creators monetize their live streams. Super Chat is now available to creators from more than 20 countries and viewers from more than 40 countries from around the world.

Super Chat allows viewers to post comments and pay a small amount of money for them to be highlighted in bright colors and stay pinned to the top of the chat window for up to five hours. This makes sure that viewers get their message across to content creators. The Super Chat feature was actually announced last month.
