Google has just updated their YouTube application for iOS, adding a set of built-in video editing tools and a new Material Design-based user interface, using a 3D-based directional shadows approach to user interface design.

As the YouTube for iOS 10.38 release notes say, with the new user interface you should be able to find your favorite content a lot easier since everything is one tap away, hidden behind one of the icons at the top of the app's interface.

Moreover, all your favorites, channels, subscriptions and recommended videos should be a lot simpler to find with the help of the simplified Material Design-based user interface.

Google's iOS client for YouTube is also designed to make it a lot easier to get your videos uploaded faster by allowing you to edit them right within the YouTube application for iOS.

The new inbuilt video editing tools should make the YouTube iOS app a one-stop-only solution for YouTube publishers who use iOS devices once the YouTube Capture app's recording capabilities will also be integrated.

Google's new YouTube app for iOS up for a rough start

Even though the new interface of the YouTube for iOS app is supposed to make things easier for users, it seems that the new release is not getting the warm welcoming Google was hoping for since, at the moment, it received mostly bad reviews and an overall rating of two stars.

Moreover, users are sharing their experience with the new YouTube for iOS application in a Reddit thread where the majority of the comments seem to point to a UX downgrade after installing YouTube for iOS 10.38 on their iPhones, iPods, and iPads.

You can download YouTube for iOS 10.38 from the iOS App Store, and install it on any iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 7.0 or later.
