The Q4OS development team is pleased to inform us today about the immediate availability for download of a Windows installer for their Debian-based GNU/Linux distribution, Q4OS, allowing users to create a dual-boot environment on their PCs.

For those not familiar to Q4OS, it's an open-source and free Linux distro based on the popular Debian GNU/Linux operating system and built around the Trinity Desktop Environment (TDE), which resembles the look and feel of the old-school KDE 3.5 desktop environment.

Created with an emphasis on Windows users who want to migrate to a free, open-source, and more secure operating system, Q4OS now lets them install the distribution alongside Microsoft Windows in an easy manner, without having to do any modifications to your personal computer or install any other apps.

"The installer allows [you] to install Q4OS alongside Windows in an easy way, with no need of modifying an existing Windows operating system, nor any of software installed," explained the devs. "Once you perform the setup, you will be able to switch back and forth between Windows and Q4OS each time you restart your computer."

The Q4OS for Windows installer is compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10

In case you're wondering, the Q4OS for Windows installer has been designed to work seamlessly with the latest Windows versions, including Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7, and it also supports PCs that have the Secure Boot feature enabled by default in the BIOS firmware, though it can be easily disabled.

While Q4OS is not meant as a complete replacement for your beloved Windows operating system, at least it can be the perfect addition to an existing Windows installation. The Q4OS for Windows installer is available for download right now on the project's homepage if you want to install Q4OS Linux. Don't forget to read the installation instructions if you don't know how the installer works.
