It's officially tested on Fedora 25 and openSUSE Leap 42.2

Canonical's David Callé announces that the widely-used Discord app, a free voice and text chat client for gamers on Linux, macOS, and Windows platforms, is now available for installation as a Snap from the Snappy Store.

Canonical once again proves that their Snappy technologies are the future of Linux application distribution across multiple GNU/Linux distributions, and now that Discover was packaged as a Snap, users will be able to install the latest version of the software as soon as it's released upstream, on their favorite operating system.

"So why does it make sense to have Discord packaged as a snap? Snaps mean simple installation and update management with no need to worry about dependencies," said Callé. "It also means that when the software vendors make them available, it’s easier to access the beta version of their app or even daily builds."

Here's how to install Discord as a Snap

Canonical's engineers are offering the Discord app from the Snappy Store for all supported Ubuntu releases, as well as any other Linux-based operating system that supports Snaps. They already managed to test the installation of Discord in the Fedora 25 and OpenSuSE Leap 42.2 distributions.

The installation is quite straightforward and involves running the following two commands in your favorite terminal emulator app, then firing up Discord from the Applications Menu of the desktop environment you're currently using. That's it! The next time Discord is updated, you'll also have the latest version installed on your favorite OS.

sudo apt install snapd-xdg-open
sudo snap install discord
Snap packages are also supported on the Arch Linux, Debian GNU/Linux, Gentoo Linux, OpenEmbedded, Yocto, and OpenWrt operating systems. Details on how to make your operating system compatible with the Snappy technologies are provided by Canonical on the snapcraft.io website.
