The Captain bot can be used only in the United States

Yahoo launched a new text messaging bot in the United States called Captain to help individuals and families manage to-do lists and reminders.

You don't even have to download anything to get things started; you have to just text "hi" to 773-786.

So what can this tool do? It will allow them to remind your family members about tasks that need to be completed throughout the day. It even supports lists so you can add items to them at any time.

"Gone are the days of interrupting your spouse’s workday with updated carpool information and fielding text messages from your kids about what they need from the store. And say goodbye to downloading apps to try and stay organized," reads Yahoo's blog post on the launch.

Captain can be used to streamline family communications for sharing activities, setting reminders and updating a master shopping list. It can even remind your partner to pick up the kids from school or to buy milk.

Command the Captain

There's a long list of commands you can use for Captain. For instance, if you want the app to remind Sarah of a certain task at a certain date, you can just type "Remind Sarah of dentist appointment on Friday at 6 PM." If you don't know what reminders you've set before, you can ask the tool to "Show reminders." If you no longer feel like completing a certain task, you can simply text Captain to do so.

Of course, you'll have to create a group to be able to actually share information with your family members. You'll add members and give them a name in the app, a name that you can change at any time. It's also easy to remove any people you no longer want in your group.
