The Xubuntu developers have just announced that the second and last Beta build of their anticipated Xubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) distribution is now available for download and testing as part of the Ubuntu 15.10 Final Beta releases.

Being powered by the latest and most advanced Linux 4.2.1 kernel branch, the second and last Beta build of the upcoming Xubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) computer operating system remains based on the lightweight Xfce 4.12 desktop environment and introduces a handful of new features.

Among these, we can mention the addition of the Xfce4 Panel Switch app, which can be used for backing up and restoring the settings of the Xfce Panel (five present panel layouts are included), as well as the addition of Greybird accessibility icons for the Xfce window manager.

Beta 2 of Xubuntu 15.10 includes numerous other enhancements

In addition to the new features mentioned above, the second and last Beta build of Xubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) fixes many of those annoying bugs reported by users since the first Beta release and includes numerous other enhancements. The Catfish 1.3.2, MenuLibre 2.1.1, xfpanel-switch 1.0.2, and xfdesktop4 4.12.3 packages are here as well.

The camera will now be initialized correctly, Parole Media Player no longer displays a blank screen at startup, you can now see desktop icons on the live session, xdg-open now correctly detects the Xubuntu/Xfce session, you can now restart or shut down the live guest session on VirtualBox and VMWare machines, and the live session authentication has been improved.

Xubuntu users eager to see what's new in the next major release of the Xfce-based GNU/Linux distribution can download Xubuntu 15.10 Beta 2 Live CD ISO images for either 64-bit or 32-bit hardware architectures right now from Softpedia. However, we remind you that this is a pre-release version, not suitable for production use.
