Sony brought the big guns out at IFA 2015 in Berlin, where it unveiled the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, and the remarkable 4K display-enabled Xperia Z5 Premium.

Still, one major disappointment as far as this smartphones are concerned is that Sony chose to rely on the Snapdragon 810 platform once again, even though we know the chipset is highly prone to overheating.

Sony’s previous flagship, the Xperia Z3+, was plagued by the same troubles, as it was also based on the Snapdragon 810. Still, there might be hope for those who are still dreaming of getting their hands on a Sony high-end smartphone, just not one that involves the controversial Snapdragon 810.

The Xperia Z5 Premium is not high-end enough for you?

According to a new rumor coming out of Price Pony, Sony is preparing another super high-end smartphone called the Xperia Z5 Ultra. According to the sources familiar with the matter, the device will come with a huge 6.44-inch display with 2160 x 3840 pixel resolution (4K, like the Xperia Z5 Premium) and will draw power from Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 820 chipset.

We have high hopes Snapdragon 820 will solve the overheating issues the Snapdragon 810 has been plagued with, mainly because, with this chipset, Qualcomm will be employing its own custom cores dubbed Kyro, as opposed to ARM’s.

The phone will take advantage of 4GB of RAM, which is more than what the Xperia Z5 Premium was going for, which is just 3GB. As for the photography department, Sony will be employing the same 23MP primary camera it used on the Sony Xperia Z5 and Sony Xperia Z5 Compact.

The source also tells us that this mighty phablet will be kept alive by a 4,000mAh battery, and hopefully, the power box will manage to do a good job of it.

According to the information, we can expect to see Sony announce the Xperia Z5 Ultra in March 2016, after the Mobile World Congress 2016 takes place on 22-25 February 2016.

We’ve already heard that the first device that’s supposed to bundle a Snapdragon 820 processor will probably make a debut on the market around March, so that’s why we think the Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra is expected to make it out around the same time.
