14 DAY TRIAL // Xiaomi’s Mi Band series of fitness bands have been quite successful and made the company the top contender to Fitbit. Now Xiaomi has finally launched the highly anticipated Mi Band 2, after many delays and some leaks.
Xiaomi Mi Band 2 comes with a 0.42-inch OLED display and powerful specs for tracking movements, monitoring the heart rate, measuring and determining sleep patterns via a phone application. The fitness tracker can also determine if the wearer has sat for too long and create alerts for nudging them to move.
It comes with a feature that allows users to unlock their Xiaomi smartphones, without having to use fingerprints or even passcodes. Of course, this feature was available on the previous Mi Band as well. The Mi band 2 also has an ADI accelerometer and comes with IP67 certification.
Ingress Protection rating 67 means that the device has complete protection against dust and water. Therefore, Xiaomi Mi Band 2 can be submerged under 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. This means that it can be used when performing various water sports, including snorkeling.
Xiaomi Mi Band 2 retails for the price of $22 (€20)
The successor to Xiaomi Mi Band comes with a 20-day battery, but the exact capacity hasn’t been specified. Then, it sports ADI accelerometer and optical heart rate sensor. The Mi Band 2 also features an additional 0.05mm ultra-thin button, something that its predecessor lacked.
Mi Band 2 has a hyperallergenic silicone band that can be replaced. The device is available in multiple colors, including black, blue, green and orange. It comes with second-generation Bluetooth 4.0 for more stable connections.
The price is estimated to reach about $22 (€20), which is higher than that of the Mi Band, which sold for $13 (€10). The official retail launch is set for tomorrow in China, but there’s no word on when it will hit international markets.
