Xiaomi Mi5 proves to be one of the most popular flagship smartphones announced at MWC 2016 trade fair. Although it competes with important brands like Samsung and LG, the Mi5 seems to offer a great device at an incredible price.

The Chinese company announced a few days ago that more than 17 million customers registered on its website for the purchase of its Xiaomi Mi5.

However, it looks like Xiaomi wasn't ready for the success of its flagship, as the company only prepared around 4 million units for its first flash sale, GizmoChina.

The number is suggested by the Taiwanese media, but it hasn't been confirmed by Xiaomi yet. The same sources also claims the Chinese handset maker has asked Foxconn to ramp up the production of Xiaomi Mi5 so that it can meet the high demand.

More than 10 million Xiaomi Mi5 units might be sold by the end of the month

The difference between the number of registrations and the amount of Mi5 units that have been sold during the first flash sale is quite huge, so Foxconn might have to work its magic in the next couple of weeks to provide Xiaomi with enough stock.

Until then, Xiaomi announced another Mi5 flash sale for March 8, where it's expected to sell a similar amount of units.

As for pricing options, the Chinese company has confirmed that the cheapest Mi5 model costs just $305, and comes equipped with a 1.8GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage.

A slightly upgraded variant of the cheaper version is available for purchase for $350. It includes a 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU, 3GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal memory.

Another enhanced version of Xiaomi Mi5 has been priced at $415, but it's not yet available for purchase in China. This is the most expensive of the three variants and comes with a 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.
