Following the release of the huge Mi Mix phablet featuring a 6.4-inch Quad HD display, Xiaomi plans to offer customers who prefer much smaller phones a very powerful alternative, the Mi S.

Xiaomi Mi S hasn't been officially unveiled yet, but a couple of slides showing the phone and most of its specs have been leaked in China.

The name of the phone appears on some of these slides, which is why there's a high chance that Xiaomi will adopt it when the device gets unveiled.

The overall design of the Mi S doesn't stand out from other Xiaomi smartphones, but we see no reason for the Chinese company to change anything at the moment.

The MI S is a small-sized candybar smartphone that features a small circular rear-facing camera at the upper right side, not in the center as most phones do.

But the main selling point of the Xiaomi Mi S is the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor inside, which is coupled with 4GB of RAM and no less than 128GB of storage.

We doubt the phone will include microSD card, but the default internal memory should be more than enough, even for hardcore users.

Furthermore, the Mi S sports a small 4.6-inch display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. It features 2.5D curved glass on both front and back, so you'll have to take great care of it.

The rear-facing 12-megapixel camera features a Sony IMX378 sensor, but there's also a secondary 4-megapixel camera in the front.

Xiaomi Mi S is powered by a 2,600 mAh battery and packs both USB Type-C and 3.5mm audio jack ports. NFC (Near Field Communication) is included as well, along with fingerprint scanner.

There's no word on price and release date yet, but it's safe to assume Xiaomi Mi S will be initially launched in China. We'll learn more about its availability after the Chinese company makes it official.
