Xiaomi is working on a number of exciting smartphones to be released in the coming months, one of which is the Redmi Note 5. The phone’s specs and pricing were recently leaked out in a listing at the FCC. It appears that the Redmi Note 5 could be announced before the end of the month.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will apparently be made out of metal with a panel similar to its predecessor, while the phone will sport a 5.5-inch full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution with Gorilla Glass 4 protection on top, according to a new report. The smartphone could be powered by a Qualcomm 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 652 SoC and MediaTek’s helio X25 64-bit deca-core SoC.

The smartphone will use both chipsets, but their availability will depend on the market. The device might ship with 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. However, the memory capacity could be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.

Rear camera capacity could reach 16MP on the rear

The Redmi Note 5 might feature a 16MP camera on the back, with an 8MP selfie snapper in the front for taking pictures and recording videos. The phone could draw power from a 4,000mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging feature. The fingerprint scanner will be located at the back of the phone, just below the rear camera.

The report says that the smartphone could come with MIUI 9 OS and Android 7.1 Nougat, and be offered in three different color variants: Black, Silver and Gold. The Redmi Note 5 could feature a price tag of about €200 ($212) in Europe, $200 in the US, and $191 in India.

The phone is said to be announced at the end of January, but that remains to be seen as this information should be taken with a grain of salt and the specs can only be confirmed at the time of launch. Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 3 last year.
