14 DAY TRIAL // Xiaomi has finally announced its flagship smartphone, the Mi 6, during an event held in Beijing today. The device comes with roughly the specs and design elements that were the subject of many leaked renders.
Xiaomi’s Mi 6 is the first smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer to run Qualcomm’s latest 10nm Snapdragon platform and comes with eight CPU cores and a maximum clock speed of 2.45GHz. The chipset is also coupled with Adreno 540 graphics processing unit, which is 25% faster than Adreno 530 and was launched last year.
The smartphone’s design brings improvements to last year’s Mi 5, featuring a metal frame made out of stainless steel and 3D glass on the front panel, with splash resistance features. Below the 5.15-inch Full HD display, Xiaomi Mi 6 features Qualcomm’s Sense ID fingerprint scanner, and the smartphone comes with a dual-camera setup on the back with 2x optical lossless zoom that helps take clear shots even at a distance.
The dual-camera setup features a 12MP wide-angle lens with 4-axis OIS stabilization, and a 12MP telephoto lens. The front camera on the new smartphone has a capacity of 8MP with portrait mode and enhanced depth-of-field features.
Xiaomi says the battery will last for a full day
Xiaomi Mi 6 features dual speakers for advanced stereo effect both at the top and bottom front panel. Battery capacity inside the new smartphone is 3,350mAh, larger than on the Galaxy S8, iPhone 7 and Huawei P10.
The Chinese smartphone maker mentioned that the battery is coupled with MIUI optimizations and that it typically lasts for a full day, depending on usage. The smartphone also features 2x2 dual WiFi technology for better and wider connectivity, together with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. Interestingly, the Mi 6 doesn’t come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Xiaomi Mi 6 will be made available in Silver, Black and Blue color options. The model with 64GB of storage will cost about $360, while the variant with 128GB of memory will carry a price tag of $420. Customers will have to pay $435 for the variant with 128GB of internal storage and a ceramic back panel.
