The rumor mill has been running abuzz with information related to the upcoming Xiaomi Mi5 flagship. According to the latest hearsay, the phone is supposed to be announced this December as the first handset to take advantage of a Snapdragon 820 processor.

Naturally, the phone will be equipped with high-end specs, so the question arises: how much will the phone cost? Given Xiaomi’s history, we expect the device to launch on the market with a wallet-friendly price tag. Still, how much exactly should you be saving up?

The folks at MobiPicker seemingly have the exact answer for you. According to mobile industry tipster @Leaksfly, who posted the information on Weibo, the Xiaomi Mi5 will be priced at around $314 / €279.

That’s an extremely affordable price tag given the fact that Xiaomi’s current mid-ranger with Snapdragon 808 and a FHD display is selling for $230 / €204. In contrast, the Mi5 is getting really high-end specs.

Xiaomi Mi5 rumored specs round-up

If the rumors we have seen so far are anything to go by, then the Xiaomi Mi5 is expected to make a debut with a 5.2-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. At this point, it doesn’t seem like Xiaomi will be implementing a QHD panel in its upcoming flagship, although previous rumors have claimed otherwise.

The power source of the phone is going to be a Snapdragon 820 processor working in combination with 4GB of RAM plus 16GB/32GB of internal storage. Despite rumors, we think that the Mi5 will probably launch with 64GB of storage on board, just like the Mi Note Pro which launched back in January 2015. The phablet also featured a QHD 5.7-inch display.

Other specs tipped for the flagship include a 16MP main camera plus an impressive 8MP for shooting selfies and video chats. A fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C port are also going to be added on board.

The handset is expected to roll out with the Android 5.1.1-based MIUI 7 plastered on top. The phone will probably get a taste of an Android 6.0 Marshmallow build later on.

What’s interesting is that, at some point, we heard whispers saying that Xiaomi would also launch a Mi5 Plus model, but talk of this version has died down ever since, so we have to assume the Mi5 will fly out solo when it launches.
