Yesterday, the retail package of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi4c leaked online, revealing that this upper middle-range phone will arrive with a USB Type-C port on board.

But while we knew most of the specs the device would bring to the table, we were still in the dark about a possible release date.

Well, today, the folks at Xiaomi Insiders reveal that their favorite Chinese company will probably announce the new phone on September 24, after which customers will be able to purchase it starting with October 3.

Furthermore, we’re told that those who want to purchase the new device must act fast, because the device maker will initially make available only 100,000 units. Nevertheless, the Chinese company will probably follow up with another batch in the upcoming months.

The Xiaomi Mi4c will go on sale in China

The upcoming Mi4c is an upgraded version of the Mi4i, which launched in India a few months ago and proved to be quite popular with consumers. The handset should arrive on the market with a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display with full HD (1080p) resolution support.

On the inside, the soon-to-be-announced smartphone should feature a 1.8GHz hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, an Adreno 418 GPU, and 2GB of RAM. The current source explains that, while all devices running Snapdragon 808 feature two Cortex-A57 cores plus four Cortex-A53 ones, it is possible that the octa-core platform inside the Xiaomi Mi4c will take advantage of six Cortex-A53 cores.

To compare, the Xiaomi Mi4i features an octa-core Snapdragon 615 characteristic of upper mid-rangers, combined with the same 2GB of RAM.

Moving on, the Mi4c should come packing 16GB of internal storage, which is non-expandable, and the new MIUI 7 ROM on top of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

We should also mention that the handset bundles a 13MP main snapper with dual-LED flash autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording, while up in front we have a 5MP selfie camera. We have the same setup on the Mi4i.

To conclude the spec list, the Mi4c is expected to bundle a 3,100 mAh battery, 4G LTE connectivity, and dual-SIM support. And yes, it should be really affordable.
