Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is one of the most popular Android tablets in China since its release last month. The slate is basically a tribute to Apple's iPad mini, which is probably one of the reasons it's selling so well in the Mainland.

But the Chinese company does not want to stop here and plans to launch another version of the tablet powered by Windows 10.

Many handset makers have been amazed at Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system, but only a few plan to launch Windows 10 Mobile smartphones.

The only other option would be to release larger mobile devices capable of running Windows 10, and the Chinese OEMs are taking full advantage of the situation.

Xiaomi announced that the Windows 10 version of Mi Pad 2 will be launched in China on January 26. Customers will be able to purchase the tablet for only 1,300 yuan outright, which is about $180 or €170. It will be available in both Dark Grey and Champagne Gold color options.

It will have the same specs as the Android model, but it will run Windows 10 operating system right out of the box.

However, unlike the Android version that comes in two variants (16GB and 64GB), the Windows 10 model is only available with 64GB of storage inside.

64GB storage, but just 2GB RAM

The Mi Pad 2 comes equipped with a 2.24GHz quad-core Intel Atom X5-Z8500 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM. The tablet sports a 7.9-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution.

There's also an 8-megapixel camera on the back that features autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording, but lacks LED flash, whereas in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 will be powered by a massive 6,190 mAh battery that should provide around 12 hours of video playback time.
