The only solution would be to hard-reset the tablet

Xiaomi's new Mi Pad 2 tablet is an excellent device. Since its launch last year, the Chinese company has probably sold hundreds of thousands of units in China and other countries.

Unfortunately, it looks like the tablet is affected by an issue the previous model, Mi Pad, had to deal with as well. The problem is the slate does not switch on if you let the battery deplete completely and then try to recharge it.

We have already tested the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 and found the tablet one of the best on the market, so if you want to know more, you can check out our full review.

However, we've noticed that the Mi Pad 2 tends not to power on if we allow its battery to reach 0%. Even after keeping it on recharge for a few hours, the tablet will not switch on, and the LED that usually notifies you that the slate is recharging does not blink at all.

Naturally, not all Mi Pad 2 units are affected by this issue

In some cases, we've managed to switch on the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 by keeping the Power + Volume down buttons pressed for about 10 seconds.

When this method didn't work anymore, we tried holding the Power button pressed for more than 10 seconds. Fortunately, that worked, and we managed to power on the tablet.

It's unclear what the issue affecting the Mi Pad 2 is, but Xiaomi's forums are full of complaints about the original Mi Pad model that doesn't switch on in some cases, so this must be a common problem for Xiaomi tablets now.

Some users claim that it's the charger inside the Mi Pad's sales package that causes the issue, and that they got rid of the problem the moment they started to use another charger.

The Mi Pad 2 comes with USB Type-C port, so you will need a special charger if you want to replace it. You can't use one from an older smartphone unless it includes USB Type-C port like the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2's.
