14 DAY TRIAL // One day before unveiling the Mi Max phablet to the world, Xiaomi is trying to build hype around its latest gem. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun shared new photos of the smartphone via Weibo. The post doesn’t reveal anything about the smartphone’s specs, but its design is beautifully showcased in this marketing campaign.
Only a few months after the release of its flagship phone Mi 5, Xiaomi will be unveiling a new smartphone tomorrow. Photos released on the eve of the launch, hint at the different color variants for the phone, including blue, pink, and gold, as each image background bears one of these dominant colors.
Images also show that the Mi Max phablet will come with a MIUI ROM, the stock and aftermarket firmware for smartphones and tablets developed by Xiaomi. Most likely, the company will implement the latest version of its firmware, called MIUI 8. Another detail that the images reveal is the micro SIM and microSD slot for more storage capacity.
Mi Max to come with 6.44-inch screen and Snapdragon 650
Details on the specs were recently listed on the website of the Chinese telecommunications certification authority, Tenaa. They pointed to a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel of the screen and indicated that the phablet will be coming with a 6.44-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display.
Hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor will power the device and it will have a 4000mAh battery, as well as 4GB LTE for fast Internet connectivity. It will also come with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Glonass connectivity options.
Moreover, Mi Max phablet is set to come in two variants, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage or 3GB of RAM and up to 32GB of storage. Camera capabilities are quite satisfactory, 16MP in the back and a 5MP in the front.
The company was supposed to launch its Mi Band 2 wearable at tomorrow’s event, but last week the CEO confirmed that the fitness band would be delayed by a month, due to production issues. Still, Xiaomi may take the opportunity to showcase it along with the Mi Max phablet.
