14 DAY TRIAL // Xiaomi has just unveiled the new Mi Max 2 with some very powerful specs and an affordable price, which abides by the company’s policy. The phablet is made entirely out of metal and comes with a single-lens camera on the back.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has a design quite similar to its predecessor, featuring a fingerprint scanner placed on the back of the phone and all physical buttons located on the right side, with the SIM card tray on the left. Capacitive buttons are located below the display, just like on its predecessor, which was launched during the same month of last year.
Aside from the LED flash being placed on the left side of the single-lens rear camera, there aren't many visible differences on the back panel compared to the previous Mi Max. In addition, display size is the same at 6.44 inches, just like the screen resolution, which reaches 1080 x 1920 pixels.
Xiaomi Mi Max features a bigger battery, but fewer MP on the back
Internally, RAM capacity is 4GB with two internal memory options, either 64GB or 128GB. Last year’s Mi Max had a variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of memory, but such a model isn’t available this year. Moving on, Mi Max 2 comes with a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor and Adreno 506 graphics processing unit, compared to SD 652 in last year’s model.
Battery capacity was upped to 5,300mAh and offers Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging solution. The rear camera features a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensors, while the selfie snapper is a 5MP sensor, just like on the Mi Max. Moreover, it comes with an IR blaster placed at the top of the phone and runs Android Nougat with MIUI 8 on top.
Xiaomi also offers a set of stereo speakers on the Mi Max 2. In terms of pricing, the variant with 64GB of memory can be purchased for $247, while the 128GB of storage option costs $291 in China. The phone will be available on June 1, and it could reach other markets as well.
