It could be among the first smartphones to pack this chipset

Qualcomm and Samsung have just announced the Snapdragon 835 processor, but they didn't offer too many details about the chipset's performance. One thing we know for sure is that the new CPU will be embedded in some of the most interesting flagship smartphones next year.

One of these interesting devices could be the Galaxy S8. Samsung is rumored to launch two versions of the Galaxy S8 based on the chipset inside, which isn't uncommon for the South Korean company.

One of the Galaxy S8 models will be packed with the company's Exynos 9 chipset, while the other will be equipped with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor inside.

But Samsung's upcoming flagship won't be the only smartphone to include the Snapdragon 835 processor. A new report claims Xiaomi's next year top of the line handset, the Mi 6, will benefit from the same new SoC (system on chip).

According to an iSuppli analyst, Xiaomi Mi 6 will be the first Chinese smartphone to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, not the long-rumored Oppo Find 9.

As a matter fact, it appears that the previous rumor regarding the upcoming release of the Oppo Find 9, which was supposed to arrive in March with the same Snapdragon 835 CPU inside, was just that, a rumor.

Anyway, Xiaomi is expected to announce its new flagship next year, probably in February, just like it did with the previous model, the Mi 5.

Since Qualcomm and Samsung have announced their Snapdragon 835 chipset will be commercially available starting Q1 2017, it makes sense for the first smartphones carrying the powerful processor to be unveiled at CES or MWC trade fairs.

No other information about the Xiaomi Mi 6 is available at the moment, but as we're getting closer to its presumable launch window, we'll probably learn more about the flagship, so stay tuned.
