Xiaomi recently unveiled two powerful smartphones, the Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus. The smartphones are expected to hit shelves today, but Xiaomi decided to launch registrations right after the official unveiling.

The numbers are in and it seems that more than 3 million people registered on the company's website for a Xiaomi Mi 5s or Mi 5s Plus smartphone, according to PhoneArena.

The registrations don't actually count as pre-orders, people simply expressed the interest in purchasing such a device. Xiaomi stated that the phones received 1.8 million registrations prior to their official release.

Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus come with some really powerful specs, including the latest processor model from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 821 SoC. They also have 64GB or 128GB of internal storage and are made available in multiple variants with 3GB, 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

The Mi 5s features a 5.15-inch 1080p display with 600 nits of brightness, along with a 12MP rear camera with Sony IMX 378 sensor and f/2.0 aperture.

The smartphone's front camera has 4MP and the phone comes equipped with the Sense ID, ultrasonic fingerprint scanner from Qualcomm that provides enhanced security features since it can recognize prints even when the finger is wet or dirty. Moreover, it has improved speed for recognizing fingerprints and is less prone to damage.

The Mi 5s Plus is the true power-house since it comes with a 5.7-inch display with 1080p resolution. It runs a 2.35GHz Snapdragon 821 SoC and has dual-camera setup on the back. Rear camera capacity reaches 13MP, while the front camera is a 4MP unit. It also has a fingerprint scanner on the back and comes with a powerful battery of 3,800mAh, compared to the 3,200mAh one on the Mi 5s.

Xiaomi has a price tag of $300 for the 3GB of RAM variant, while the Mi 5s Plus with SD821 SoC and 6GB of RAM is sold for about $390.
