14 DAY TRIAL // Today, June 23, 2016, the Xen Project has had the great pleasure of announcing the immediate availability for download of the Xen 4.7 open-source Linux hypervisor software for GNU/Linux operating systems.
Xen 4.7 arrives eight months after the release of the previous version, Xen 4.6, and it appears to be yet another major release. Not that we expected less from the leading open-source virtualization system, which is currently being used in many of the world's best and renowned cloud hosting services, including AWS (Amazon Web Services), Rackspace Public Cloud, and Verizon Cloud, powering more than 10 million users.
Release highlights of Xen 4.7 include a new XL command-line interface that has been designed to allow the use of PVUSB devices for PV guests, as well as to enable hot-plugging of USB devices, HVM guests, and QEMU disk backends like iSCSI, DRBD, and more in HVM guests. Basically, this lets you add or remove disk backends to virtual machines without the need to reboot the guest.

Xen 4.7 introduces support for a broader range of applications and workloads
Other exciting new features implemented in Xen 4.7 is support for a broader range of applications and workloads by removing the PV guest limit restriction of 512GB. Then, the Live Migration functionality has received a great number of improvements, support for booting on hosts that exhibit ACPI 6.0 or higher information, PSCI 1.0 compatibility, along with enhancements to the Intel Xeon processor product family by implementing support for Code and Data Prioritization (CDP) and VT-d Posted Interrupts.
