The team at Microsoft in charge of the Xbox One application running on Windows 10 is announcing that the August update for the service is now rolling out and is introducing a range of tweaks and new features, including the option to stream content at an 1080p resolution and at 60 frames per second.

The official Xbox Wire announcement states, "The new streaming capability works best for gamers who have home networks with adequate bandwidth. In the Xbox app on Windows 10, go to Settings > Game Streaming and set the video encoding level to Very High."

The feature was initially hidden by Microsoft and gamers had to do some work on their own in order to enable it.

The Xbox One app now also supports right-click on a friend entry in order to send them a message or to invite them to a party.

There are also more options to notifications and gamers also get more details about the titles that were recently played by their friends, with more options for visualization.

The app also gives players an option to compare Achievements with a friend and the My Games section has been updated to make it easier to search for a specific title while Add Games is now offering more information.

The Xbox One app is also dealing with problems flagged by fans

Microsoft also says that there are updates to deal with problems regarding sign-ins, localization and game streaming.

The new version number is 8.8.15003.00000 or higher.

Microsoft is also encouraging players who use the Xbox One app to continue to offer feedback, some of which will be implemented in the new major update that will be introduced in September.

During the fall the company is also planning to introduce a new user interface for the home console and there are also plans to offer streaming which goes from the PC to the device.

The Xbox One and Windows 10 hardware will become even more connected over time, as other features are being added.

Kudo Tsunoda has said that the cross-platform and the coming backwards compatibility offer unique value for the home console that the rival PlayStation 4 from Sony cannot replicate.
