Video game publisher and platform holder Microsoft is announcing that it is planning to launch a big sale for video games for both the Xbox One and the 360 on July 7, which will deliver discounts of 40 to 50 percent on more than 70 titles.

The official trailer for the Ultimate Game Sale mentions that Mortal Kombat X, Far Cry 4, Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls and Goat Simulator will be included.

Presumably, a full list will be introduced on July 7, and gamers owning an Xbox One or a 360 and interested in getting some cheap video game will have until July 13 to decide which experience they want to pick up.

Those who are members of the Xbox Live Gold program will get another 10 percent off on all the featured titles.

The fact that Microsoft is delivering a solid summer sale is a good thing, but the company still has a lot of work to do before it can match the size of the Steam sale that recently concluded.

Sony is also offering European gamers a chance to pick up cheap titles for the PS4, the PS3 and the Vita all through the month of July.
