The Xbox One is not where Microsoft wants it to be regarding sales, and the company is determined to introduce more value for all users of the home console during the coming months by implementing a range of new features and tweaks that should make the platform more interesting.

During the Live Build 2016 event, Phil Spencer, who leads the gaming division, has revealed that a unified store that will cover the Xbox One, Windows 10 PCs, and mobile devices is coming soon, allowing developers to deliver their titles faster on each of the devices.

The change will take place when the Anniversary update for the PC operating system arrives in the summer, and Microsoft wants the new store to deliver extra support for special features like bundles and season passes.

The Cortana personal assistant will also debut on the Xbox One relatively soon and will come complete with game recommendations as well as tips and tricks related to the title that they are currently engaged with.

When the Windows 10 Anniversary update arrives, the home console will also get access to a background music app, and apparently, there are plenty of other features that will be shown for both platforms during the E3 2016 event.

Microsoft is planning changes for UWP

The company wants to introduce more options for developers and gamers, giving them the option to disable V-Sync while adding support for both modding and overlays.

A converter is also being created, which can take a game package from another platform like Steam and then turn it into a UWP application that can use all the core new features introduced via Windows 10.

Microsoft is also confirming that the coming Apex version of Forza 6 will show what the franchise can do on the PC and that all future installments will arrive on Windows 10 as well as on the Xbox One, using the advantages of each platform to improve gameplay.

Dan Greenawalt, the creative director, explains that "The Universal Windows Platform is great for the game developers and gamers alike. It's going to become even more powerful as a way of delivering amazing experiences across all of the devices in the Windows ecosystem."

Apex is free-to-play, does not yet have an official launch date and will run at 4K and 60 frames per second for those gamers who have powerful enough computers.

The next full installment in the Forza franchise will feature the Lamborghini Centernario as the cover car, and the first official details about its core features will be made during the coming E3 2016.
