Silicon.com's WebWatch has presented a potential case of trademark infringement concerning Microsoft's Internet explorer 7 browser. This is the case with the www.IE7.com domain. As the
Redmond Company has released Internet Explorer Release Candidate 1 on August 24, and Mozilla launched Firefox Beta 2 on August 31, the open source solution has been granted an advantage in the browser face-off.
The www.IE7.com domain contains a Firefox logo along with the "Firefox. Rediscover the web" slogan and a disclaimer stating no relation with Microsoft. "Neither this site nor Mozilla is connected with Microsoft," reads the message posted on www.IE7.com. The sole Hyperlink integrated in the website redirects the user to the Mozilla's Firefox 1.5 download page.
While Microsoft has not issued an official statement as yet regarding the issue at hand, Mozilla has denied that the company is in any way involved. Moreover, Mozilla denied possessing information related to the domain and also added that it is by no means affiliated to the Website's creator.
