Photosynthesis isn't just for plants anymore

You know how plants use sunlight to keep themselves properly nourished and alive? Well, it looks like this diet plan isn't just for ferns or rose bushes any longer.

Full-grown women in China have gotten into the habit of staring at the sun hoping this will replace their body's need for actual, proper food and help them lose weight.

The twisted logic behind this latest diet craze

A group of about a dozen women were recently seen staring straight at the sun on a beach in Sam Ka Village. When asked what they were doing, they candidly explained they were dieting.

Without further ado, here's how this latest diet craze works: by staring directly at the sun, one soaks up on solar energy. This solar energy then powers the body, making food obsolete.

The more solar energy one absorbs, the less they need to eat. Do this for long enough, and eventually, with no more food to sustain them, those nasty fat deposits will simply fade away.

“We practice sun-gazing as a substitute for eating. Some of us who have finished the therapy now eat less, and others don’t have to eat at all!” explained one of the dieters seen in Sam Ka Village.

To make sure they don't get skin cancer while attempting to shake off their love handles or whatever other lumps and bumps they are not comfortable with, the women bring umbrellas and sunglasses.

The trouble is none of this makes any sense

The sun gazers might think they can trick their body into working on solar energy instead of food, but the fact of the matter is this diet plan does not make any sense.

There is no way the human body can run on nothing but sunlight and the occasional sip of water. At best, these women can hope to lose weight by, well, starving.
