Numerous Windows games and apps have received improvements

Wine 1.9.16 development release was announced this past weekend for those who love living on the bleeding edge, bringing more improvements and numerous bug fixes to various Windows apps and games.

A total of 43 issues reported by users were addressed in Wine 1.9.16, which ships with more shader instructions in Direct3D, performance improvements to GDI (Graphics Device Interface) and JavaScript, better 64-bit binary compatibility on the macOS operating system, and continues the progress towards the Direct3D command stream implementation.

And now for the fun part of things, Wine 1.9.16 fixes various crashes and annoyances with the Myst V, Devil May Cry 3, Darkness Within 2 Demo, eRacer Demo, Ballistic, YGOPro Percy, Sniper Elite 3, RobloxPlayer, Tera Online, Spellforce 2, King Arthur II Demo, Mass Effect 3, Gauntlet, World of Warcraft, Unreal Tournament 3, Midnight Mysteries: The Edgar Allan Poe Conspiracy, Into The Stars, and Age of Mythology: Extended Edition games.

Microsoft Word / Excel 2010 issues have been patched

Continuing with the bug fixes, Wine 1.9.16 addresses many problems with various widely used Windows apps, among which we can mention Microsoft Word 2010, Microsoft Excel 2010, GOG Galaxy, pcsx2 1.4.0, Epic Games Launcher, Battle.Net Launcher, Trackbar control (msctls_trackbar32), WinZIP 6, Cool Record Edit, Screamer Radio, Time Warner Cable Connection Manager 1.03.0012.0, as well as PDF Factory 3.x and 4.x.
