Microsoft has just released a new Windows Server Insider Preview build with four major updates.

First and foremost, it’s important to know that Windows Server preview build 18298, which is part of the 19H1 development branch, comes with an updated expiration date, so you can use it until July 5, 2019.

Then, Microsoft has included a total of 38 server language packs in this build, and users can turn to DISM and LPKSETUP commands to install them.

Microsoft says it has also prepared a bunch of changes in the networking area, but the company has refused to share more details, saying that a further announcement in this regard would land in early 2019.

And last but not least, this preview build introduces support for Network Policies using Tigera Calico for Windows Containers.

Known issues and other improvements

There are obviously lots of bug fixes other improvements, and you can check the full changelog in the box after the jump.

One particular known issue that you should have in mind when planning to install this build is that virtual machines may fail to work correctly. Microsoft explains:

“Virtual machine runtime state (VMRS) files may fail to load. An affected system may report a failure in looking up or receiving the VM from the source host due to the data being invalid (0x8007000d).”

The software giant has already acknowledged the bug, so a fix is expected in a future update.

There’s also an issue that could break down Feature on Demand packages in this build. “Self-service users cannot install Feature on Demand (FOD) packages and Language Packs for Windows Server Update Service (WSUS), System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and Autopilot scenarios,” Microsoft says.
