NuAns embracing Android for its new Reloaded model

There aren’t too many device manufacturers investing in Windows 10 Mobile phones, so it’s quite a big loss when one of them decides to give up on the platform and switch to Android.

This is what happened with NuAns, a third-party OEM that previously built Windows phones and which was expected to launch a new model these days.

As we told you not too long ago, NuAns teased a new phone a few weeks back and everyone hoped this would be a Windows 10 Mobile model helping the recovery of Microsoft’s continuously collapsing operating system.

Recent evidence, however, indicated that this was actually an Android phone, and today, NuAns made it official: the company is switching to Android for the Neo Reloaded, and although it hasn’t said whether it plans to return to Windows 10 Mobile for another model in the future, there’s a good chance it won’t, especially given the bigger sales opportunity that it has on Android.

Windows 10 Mobile not even an option

The company posted the specifications of the Neo Reloaded on a Japanese website, revealing that the Neo Reloaded is powered by Android 7.1, and not by Windows 10 Mobile as so many Microsoft fans hoped. Additionally, the device comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 5.2-inch LCD display, fingerprint sensor, 3450 mAh battery, and two-tone back covers.

Windows 10 Mobile is not even an option on this new model, and it looks like NuAns is going all-in on Android, the operating system that’s currently being used on more than 80 percent of the smartphones across the world.

And when we look at the 0.3 percent market share that Windows phones currently have, it’s not hard to figure out why NuAns has decided to abandon Microsoft’s operating system for Android.

For the moment, we’re still waiting for a confirmation on whether NuAns plans to launch another Windows phone in the future or not, but with Microsoft not very keen on investing in phones these days, it’s hard to convince OEMs to stick with the platform and not switch to Android.
