14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft recently confirmed that a bug in windows 10 version 1809 potentially causing Microsoft Office issues has been fixed after the two incompatible software products were patched.
Both Morphisec and Cisco rolled out updated versions of their applications and now everything should work as expected, Microsoft explains. However, what’s important to know is that the upgrade block stays in place on computers that are running the latest versions of Morphisec Protector and Cisco AMP for Endpoints.
The patched versions are the following (so unless you aren’t running them or a newer release, you won’t be able to install Windows 10 version 1809):
Morphisec Protector version 2.4.8 Cisco AMP for Endpoints version 6.2.3.10814
New updates landing next week
The issue was originally acknowledged in early December and Microsoft said it was working with Morphisec and Cisco on a fix. In an update published today, the software giant explains the impact of the issue on a Windows 10 computer:
“Microsoft and Morphisec have identified an issue on devices that have installed Morphisec Protector or another application that uses the Morphisec Software Development Kit (SDK) including: Cisco AMP for Endpoints. These applications may impact customers’ ability to use the ‘Save As…’ dialog when saving documents in Microsoft Office applications. Saving of files is not impacted. (32-bit versions only)”
The same bug exists on Windows 10 version 1809, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server version 1809.
Windows 10 version 1809 is projected to receive a new cumulative update next week as part of the monthly Patch Tuesday rollout. This update will include both security and non-security fixes, as per the typical patching cycle that takes place every month.
Version 1809 continues to be blocked on several systems due to other major bugs, including bad Intel drivers that may cause audio playback issues. Work on resolving these issues is already under way.
