Despite Microsoft breaking its promise and not announcing the RTM build of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, we all know that build 16299.15 is the final one, and today we received yet another confirmation that this is indeed true.

Microsoft has just released the very same build to insiders enrolled in the Release Preview ring, which is the last stop before the company makes a specific update available for all users.

Previously, the company published Windows 10 build 16299.15 for the Fast and Slow rings, and now pushing it to the Release Preview ring is nothing more than the confirmation that this is indeed RTM.

“As part of final preparations for the general availability of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update on Oct. 17th, we have begun releasing Build 16299.15 to Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring. If you are in the Release Preview ring and don’t see this build offered yet – be patient as it will be rolling out over the course of the next few days to everyone in the Release Preview ring,” Microsoft explains.

Fall Creators Update launching next week

The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is projected to launch on October 17, and most likely, it’ll be released in stages, just like the previous updates for the operating system.

This means that not everyone is going to get the Fall Creators Update at the same time from the very beginning, but gradually as Microsoft manages to address bugs and repair app and hardware compatibility issues. This has proved to be an effective approach in the past, though for some users it could easily become frustrating given the long time they have to wait before receiving the update.

Microsoft is also expected to accelerate development of the Redstone 4 update and ship preview rings to users in the Fast ring, though it’s worth knowing that at least at first, breaking changes and new features won’t be available.
