Adoption of the Fall Creators Update keeps improving

Microsoft started the rollout of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709) in mid-October, and last month, the company confirmed that this process was completed, which essentially meant that all systems were allowed to upgrade via Windows Update.

And as it turns out, the majority of systems are indeed upgraded to the Fall Creators Update, as adoption of this new version is improving past, having reached 85 percent, according to data offered by AdDuplex.

This makes it the most popular Windows 10 version on the market, while Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703) is the runner-up with 8.1%. On the other hand, the Anniversary Update (version 1607) dropped to 5.1%, while 0.4% of the systems are already on the upcoming Windows 10 Redstone 4 update.

Windows 10 Redstone 4 just around the corner

Redstone 4 is projected to be finalized in March before the public release in April, most likely as version 1803. It’s available as part of the Windows Insider program, though it’s worth knowing that running these builds isn’t recommended for production machines because they could include bugs affecting performance and stability. The company is yet to announce the name of the new release, but recent leaks suggested it could be called Windows 10 Spring Creators Update. AdDuplex says adoption of the Fall Creators Update, however, is slowing down a little bit. “Two months ago FCU jumped up by 30%, last month by about 20% and now it added another 10%. The growth is obviously slowing down as the next update is imminent,” the company says.

There are countries where the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update has already surpassed the 90% share, but on the other hand, the new version is running on approximately 60% in others, like China, India, and others.

In the United States, adoption of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is currently at 89.4%, while in Canada, it has already reached 91.8%.
